CityCenter (Las Vegas)

Situated on 67 acres in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip, and as a collaboration between MGM Mirage and 8 world-renowned architects, CityCenter is the largest privately funded development in U.S. history.

The complex includes the following buildings:

  1. Vdara Hotel and Spa – as the 1st of the projects to be completed, this space was designed by RV Architecture with LLC led by Rafael Viñoly, who would go on to design 20 Fenchurch Street in London.
  2. The Crystalsas the 2nd project to be completed, this retail, dining, and entertainment space was designed by Daniel Libeskind, who is perhaps best known for the reconstruction of the World Trade Center site in Lower Manhattan.
  3. ARIA Resort & Casino – this space was designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli and features a 300,000-square-foot convention center along with various dining and entertainment offerings, such as its two former Cirque de Soleil productions, namely, Viva Elvis (2009-2012) and Zarkana (2011-2016).
  4. Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas (opened in 2009 as the Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas) – designed by KPF Associates, this 400-room hotel (featuring 227 luxury residences) holds a Forbes “Five-Star Award”, along with both its spa and restaurant — a distinction earned by only five other hotels in the U.S.
  5. Veer Towers – designed by Helmut Jahn and featuring approximately 670 residences, these buildings are striking in that they all lean 5 degrees in opposite directions (above, middle)!
