Bonaire Flag

Adopted in December 1981, the flag of Bonaire features a large dark blue triangle in the lower right corner and a smaller yellow triangle in the upper left corner which are separated by a white strip, inside of which is a black compass with a red 6-pointed star in the middle. The triangles represent the sea and sun, while the dividing strip represents the sky. The red, white, and blue colors show Bonaire’s loyalty to the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The black compass represents the island’s people, who come from the four corners of the world, while the 6-pointed star represents the original six villages of Bonaire (namely, Antriol, Nikiboko, Nort Saliña, Playa, Rincon, and Tera Korá).
